GAM Broth is a liquid medium for anaerobic bacteria, used for general culture and susceptibility testing. Agar is removed from GAM Agar. Since the medium contains digested serum, which includes hemin, it is successfully used for the cultivation of anaerobic bacteria. Hemin, along with other peptones and extracts in the medium, serves as an essential growth factor, while sodium chloride maintains the necessary osmotic balance.
